Bear's Mill was built in 1849 by Gabriel Baer and is one of the few operating water powered mills in Ohio today. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Because of the abundance of wildlife, and the uniqueness of its ecosystem, the Mill property is considered a wildlife sanctuary. The Mill itself has a backdrop of mowed lawns and tree covered knolls bordering both sides of Greenville Creek, which meanders freely through the property. The mill store offers its own cornmeal, whole wheat flour, and rye flour that are freshly stone ground on the original Buhr stones using preservative free grains. The mill's own privately labeled preserves and custom gift boxes are also available. Handmade pottery by local potters and many other carefully selected home, gift and gourmet items are in abundance. These include specialty grain products and cereals, pancake mixes, soup mixes, gourmet food lines, unusual baskets and candles, hand-blown glass, garden accessories, gourd birdhouses and more. Tour packages for groups and free self guided tours are available.
